Document remediation · WCAG 2.2 AA

Every document, accessible.

Upload a Word file, a slide deck, a spreadsheet or a PDF. Get the same file back — tagged, described and structured to WCAG 2.2 AA — with a report that shows every change.

Fig. 1The same one-page report before and after remediation. Before, it has no tags, its chart has no alternative text, its table has no header cells, and a screen reader reads it out of order. After, the title is a level 1 heading, the chart is described as “Bar chart: people reached rose each quarter, 1,240 to 2,980”, the table has header cells, the reading order runs top to bottom, and the accessibility score rises from 41 to 98.

How it works

Three steps. No accessibility expertise required.

You don’t need to know what a tag tree is. Upload the file you already have; we return one that works with screen readers, keyboard navigation and reflow.

  1. Upload

Drop in a Word file, deck, spreadsheet, PDF, HTML or Markdown. We count the pages first and tell you exactly what the job will use before anything runs.

  2. Remediate

Structure is repaired by deterministic rules. Descriptions and link text are drafted by Claude, then every result is checked again against WCAG 2.2 AA.

  3. Review and download

Get the same file type back, plus an accessible HTML copy and a conformance report. Anything that needs a person’s judgement is flagged for you.

What gets fixed

The structure assistive technology needs, added for you.

  • WCAG success criteria 1.3.1 · 2.4.6

    Headings

Bold, oversized text becomes real headings in a logical outline, so people can move through the document by section.

  • WCAG success criteria 1.1.1

    Alternative text

Charts, photos and diagrams get concise descriptions. Purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.

  • WCAG success criteria 1.3.1

    Tables

Header rows and columns are identified, so every cell is announced together with the labels it belongs to.

  • WCAG success criteria 1.3.2

    Reading order

Text boxes, columns and slide shapes are read in the order a sighted reader would follow, not the order they were drawn.

  • WCAG success criteria 3.1.1

    Language

The document language is set, so screen readers choose the right voice and pronunciation.

  • WCAG success criteria 2.4.4

    Link text

“Click here” and raw URLs become text that says where a link goes and what you will find there.

  • WCAG success criteria 1.3.1 · 4.1.2

    Tagged PDF

PDFs are rebuilt as tagged PDF/UA files with a full structure tree, then validated with veraPDF.

  • WCAG success criteria 2.4.2 · 1.4.3

    Titles and contrast

Document titles are set, and low-contrast text is darkened just enough to pass — the hue stays the same.

Our principle

We never change what your document says.

Remediation is structural. We add what’s missing — tags, descriptions, header cells, a title — and leave your words alone.

When a fix needs judgement, like describing a photo of a person or a chart with a point to make, we draft it and flag it for review rather than quietly guessing. You can edit any flagged fix in place and rebuild the file without using more pages.

Security and privacy

Private by default.

  • Private to your account

Files are stored in a private bucket that only your signed-in account can read. There is no sharing, and no one else can see your jobs.

  • Deleted on schedule

Originals and results are deleted automatically when your plan’s retention ends — 90 days on Pro — or straight away when you delete a job.

  • Never used for training

Your documents are processed to fix them, and for nothing else. They are not used to train any model.

  • Encrypted throughout

Files are encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card.

Pricing

Pay for pages, not seats.

What counts as a page?

A page of a PDF or Word document, one slide, or one worksheet. HTML and Markdown are counted at 500 words per page.

You always see the page count and confirm it before a job starts. If a job fails, its pages are refunded automatically.

Will my document look different?

Word, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML and Markdown files keep their layout — we change structure and metadata, not design. Text colour is only adjusted where contrast fails.

PDFs are rebuilt from their content as tagged PDF/UA files. Text, images and reading order are preserved; the visual layout may shift slightly.

Does this guarantee my document is compliant?

No automated tool can guarantee it, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Every report lists each WCAG 2.2 AA criterion as passed, fixed, needs review, failed or not applicable, so you know exactly what remains for a person to check.

Which older formats can I upload?

DOC, PPT, XLS, ODT, ODP, ODS and RTF. They are returned as DOCX, PPTX or XLSX, because the older formats can’t store the tags that assistive technology relies on. We explain this before the job starts.

What happens to my files afterwards?

They stay private to your account and are deleted when your plan’s retention period ends: 30 days on a trial, 90 days on Pro and one year on Business. You can delete a job and all of its files at any time.
